About Tara

Educational and Developmental
Psychologist

My name is Tara and I'm proud to be an Associate of Regain Psychology. I recently made a move to live in the country and because of this I work with my clients offering tele-health.

The core of my work is relationship building and connection. I offer a safe space to understand, explore and connect deeply. I am an Educational and Developmental Psychologist and I see adults and teenagers over 16 years old experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, attachment and relational difficulties and trauma. I am also experienced in supporting neurodivergence, in particular, ADHD and Autism, utilising a neurodiversity affirming approach

My Work

My work is trauma informed and supported by evidence based practice. I integrate attachment, neurobiology, Compassion Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy to help people navigate difficult experiences and connect in with the authentic self.

I recognise that each person comes to therapy with their own story and I tailor my approach to the person sitting in front of me. I also understand the courage it takes to see a psychologist and I provide warm and gentle guidance as we navigate this process together.

While I don’t work with children anymore, I work closely with parents to support their journey into the different stages of parenthood. As a parent and step-parent myself, I understand the challenges parenting presents and the importance of better understanding ourselves in order to support our children. I work closely with parents and caregivers to help build stronger, enduring connections with their children.

I welcome parents and caregivers with neurodivergent children and/or who are neurodivergent themselves to explore the unique parenting challenges neurodivergence presents. I recognise that when our children are diagnosed with Autism and/or ADHD, a range of feelings can be experienced, all of which are normal and to be expected. It can be difficult to know where to go for parenting support. I would be honoured to help you navigate this space and help you address challenges as they arise in your parenting journey.

I am also available to speak with local schools, parenting groups and other organisations to help build a better understanding of effective and supportive parenting approaches. I have a special interest in neuro-divergence and providing supports and accommodations at home and school. I offer interactive workshops to schools for Teachers, Teacher Aids and other school staff to help better understand the unique presentation of their neurodivergent students. I discuss ways to build supportive teacher-student relationships, offer strategies to address difficult to understand behaviours and suggest adjustments designed to help your students thrive in the classroom. I welcome all enquiries and would be delighted to support your school.
